The CONCILIARE team had a strong presence at the EASP General Meeting 2026 in Strasbourg!
The Dutch team, led by Borja Martinović, Anouk Smeekes, and Enzo Cáceres alongside our partners from Croatia, Belgium, and Italy, presented a poster that showcased three studies addressing how European people engage with changes to racial imagery in cultural products (like coffee and chocolate) and traditions (like blackface).
Ana Cabrita, from our Portuguese team, presented her research on Colonial Beliefs & Narratives. Her poster introduced the development and validation of the Western Colonial Thinking Scale, a measure designed to assess colonial beliefs and narratives that continue to legitimize post-colonial inequalities in contemporary Western societies.
Maria Babinska showcased the research on how museums deal with colonial heritage, highlighting the cases of AfricaMuseum (Tervuren) and Museo Africano (Verona). This work was co-authored with Gabriele Di Carlo, Alessia Mastropietro, Yasmina Zian, Laurent Licata, and Giovanna Leone, from the Belgian and Italian teams.
