Paradise talks: shadowed memories

“How can we rescue subalternized memories? How can art contribute to historical reparation?”

The artist Ruben Zacarias brings up this question and uses art to try and answer it. The roundtable moderated by Rosa Cabecinhas, part of the Paraíso festival, in partnership with CONCILIARE, was an opportunity to present the artistic residency developed in the Public Library of Braga.

Its purpose was to analyse files, bring together reflections on the memories of colonization and the current decolonial challenges. Like Ruben said: “There is a wound, and beneath that wound there is a sun. But to unearth that sun, we have to do rigorous research.”
