What happens when public memory is questioned through art and activism?
Last week, two presentations on behalf of CONCILIARE were part of the 5th Congress of the National and European Cultural Studies Network (RNEC/ECSN), which took place at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal.
As part of the research on the decolonization of public space, Júlia Vilhena presented the paper “Monuments in Dispute: Colonial Memory and Artivism in Porto”. She highlighted the work carried out by the CECS team, exploring how artistic and activist practices can critically engage with colonial monuments and contribute to more inclusive and plural memory landscapes.
Rosa Cabecinhas participated in the roundtable “(Re)imagine Cultural Studies: between innovation and future scenarios”, which discussed the new challenges and opportunities of this field of knowledge.
